Legislative Champion Award

MEDA Legislative Economic Development Champion Award

The Legislative Economic Development Champion awards were developed in 2020 by the Association to recognize legislators that show a passion for championing economic development work by assisting economic development efforts that affect the entire state, assisting with local economic development projects, championing support for funding related to economic development programs and services, participating with their local economic development organization, or sponsoring economic development legislation.

2024 Awardees

Four Michigan legislators received the 2023 Legislative Economic Development Champion Awards.

  • Representative Graham Filler (R) - District 93
  • Representative Will Snyder (D) - District 87
  • Senator John Cherry (D) - District 27
  • Senator John DaMoose (R) - District 37

The awards were presented at MEDA's Capitol Day event on March 5th.

2023 Awardees

Four Michigan legislators received the 2023 Legislative Economic Development Champion Awards.

The awards were presented at MEDA's Capitol Day event on March 7th.

2022 Awardees

Eight Michigan legislators received the 2022 Legislative Economic Development Champion Awards.

The awards were presented at MEDA's Capitol Day event on March 3rd.

2021 Awardees

Four Michigan legislators received the 2021 Legislative Economic Development Champion Awards.

The awards were presented at MEDA's Virtual Capitol Day event on March 9th.

2020 Awardees

Ten Michigan legislators received the 2020 Legislative Economic Development Champion Awards.

MEDA intended to present the awards to the legislators at its Capitol Day program in March, but the event was canceled due to COVID, so the awards were individually distributed to the legislators.
