Battle Creek Community Information:  Battle Creek, Michigan is conveniently located along Interstate 94, midway between Detroit and Chicago with easy access to major transportation (including I-94, I-69, I-80/90 and major rail lines) with highly-respected educational institutions, cultural opportunities, and natural resources. 

Battle Creek Unlimited (BCU) was established in 1972, under contract with the City of Battle Creek to market and manage the conversion of a 3,000-acre abandoned, former military base, which is now known as Fort Custer Industrial Park (FCIP). – The FCIP, located minutes from downtown, is the largest industrial park in the state of Michigan and #3 in the Midwest. The transformation was the nation’s first and most successful base conversion project. This set the stage for city, state, and national leaders to institute innovative measures and create assets to ensure Battle Creek’s prosperous future.

For over 45 years, BCU has had a rich history of bringing jobs and investment to the Battle Creek community.  During that time, BCU diversified the local economy, creating over 13,000 jobs and attracting over 80 companies with a strong emphasis on foreign direct investment, especially from Japan.  The world-class Industrial Park is home to 25 international-based companies from Japan (18), Germany (3), Canada (2), Austria (1), and Denmark (1).  The park boasts a robust infrastructure, complete with water, sewer, electricity, natural gas and advanced high-speed fiber connectivity.
