Information About Park/Area:

Utility-Scale Wind Development: Gratiot County is home to two wind farms; Gratiot County Wind, LLC is the largest in Michigan with 133 turbines and is located outside of the Village of Breckenridge, and Beebe Renewable Energy, LLC is located just outside the City of Ithaca. The Beebe Wind Farm, developed and owned by Exelon, has a total of 55 Nordex turbines in the Ithaca area and a maintenance and operations facility in the South Ithaca Industrial Park. The implementation of wind farms in the area speaks to the entire county’s collaborative nature in passing Michigan’s first countywide wind energy ordinance. As a result, Gratiot County has been put on the map as a forward-looking community that positions itself for a successful future.

City of Ithaca: The City of Ithaca is the county seat of Gratiot County, Michigan with a population of 2,910. Located in the center of the Lower Peninsula and with access to US-127 and Michigan Highways 46 and 57, Ithaca is a very convenient distance to major Michigan cities: Lansing, Saginaw, & Grand Rapids (approximately one hour) and Detroit & Traverse City (approximately two hours). Manufacturing and agriculture are the base of Ithaca’s economy. Major manufacturers include Cartridges Are Us (a division of Clover Technologies Group), Hutchinson Aerospace & Industry, and Anchor Danly. Gratiot County is also a leading producer of dry beans, sugar beets, corn, wheat, poultry, pigs, cattle, and dairy products. Ithaca has multiple city parks, a county park, a golf course, a bowling alley, unique downtown shops, and an Annual Fun Fest in August as entertainment and recreation activities. Ithaca is a historic town that cherishes its past, but is living for the future and is welcome to all development opportunities.
