Interesting Information About Charlotte
Community Information -- The history of Charlotte dates back to 1868, when they began to grow with industries, schools and churches. The Courthouse in Charlotte, The 1885 Eaton County Courthouse, is a nationally recognized historical building. There are about 8,400 people in Charlotte. It is 22 miles from Lansing, 107 miles from Detroit and 300 miles from Toledo, making overnight delivery to Canada easy for area industry. The City of Charlotte is planning exhiting enhancements, particularly for its industrial park, the Samuel A. Combs Industrial Park, including new roads and infrastructure, a refocus on smaller-lot development and the creation of a public, recreational area with picnic areas and walking trails, etc.
Tree City -- The
City of Charlotte has been designated as Tree City USA for over 15
years. They have won this designation by meeting four standards that
were established by the National Arbor Day Foundation. The four
standards are having a Tree Board or Department, a Tree Care
Ordinance, a community forestry program with an annual budget of at
least $2 per capita and an Arbor Day observance and proclamation.
