Interesting Information About Greenville

/files/CBP 2/Flat River Trail Photo.jpgGreenville Community Information -- Upon visiting Greenville, you will note a healthy balance among commercial, industrial, and residential areas nestled among lakes and farmland. The Fred Meijer Flat River Trail, which is currently 6.5 miles long, will soon circle the city with portions passing through hard wood forests, boardwalks over marshland, through an innovative tunnel, and over a sand dune providing spectacular views of Baldwin Lake.

City Museums -- There are two museums which honor the area’s history and military involvement in building WWII gliders. New commercial and residential developments are continuing at the west end of the city, including an award winning housing development that include apartments, town houses, single family dwellings, and condominiums.

Green Jobs -- United Solar Ovonic, a thin-film/files/CBP 2/Solar Panel Project Photo.bmp solar panel manufacturing plant, is an exciting new company that has been welcomed into the Greenville community with open arms. The introduction of Green Jobs into the community has been met with great acceptance, leading Greenville Public Schools and Montcalm Community College to introduce new instructional courses that teach students the science behind the technology. This high tech facility, along with other manufacturers in the city’s industrial park, has soundly landed Greenville’s economy in the 21st century.

GreenERville -- Further, the City of Greenville has teamed up with Greenville Public Schools to be the first municipal/school system entirely powered by renewable energy. The venture has been appropriately named the GreenERville Project, and Greenville is now an epicenter for major renewable energy in Michigan.

/files/CBP 2/Downtown Greenville Photo.jpgGreenville’s Recreation -- Recreational opportunities in Greenville include the Danish Kingdom Playground, Veteran’s Memorial Park, Tower Park with its sledding hill (complete with a tow rope), certified mountain bike trails through some challenging terrain, and three lakes, all located within the city limits! Lifelong learning is available at the Stanley and Blanche Ash Technology and Learning Center owned and operated by Montcalm Community College.

Greenville Community Center -- The Greenville Area Community Center offers a wide variety of fun activities for the entire family. Among the activities are karate classes, dance classes, choir, a wood carving club, an indoor flea market, and safety lesson for young children. The facility can also be used for banquets, weddings, business meetings, or birthday parties. The facility is located at 900 E. Kent Street in Greenville and can be contacted at (616) 754-9163.
