Interesting Information About Farwell
Farwell History -- Historically, Farwell was the first county seat 1871-1879 and was incorporated as a Village in 1879. The Village is surrounded by several lakes and the Pier Marquette Rail Trail runs directly through the town. It is a major player in the tourism industry in beautiful Clare County. Farwell was named after Samuel Farwell, a local resident who took a strong interest in the building of the railroad, and whose father-in-law was the superintendent of the railroad.
Farwell Community Information -- Farwell is locted in the Southern part of Clare County. I is close to US 10 and only 6 miles from US 127. The comunity has maintained its small town atmosphere yet it is also the home of several manufacturing facilities including Vericorr, Inc.; Melting Products; Renosol Corporation; Kyle's Manufacturing and Future Mold. In 2007, Farwell hosted the Mountain County Music Festival, attracting 100's of people to the area.
