          Interesting Information About Dexter

/files/CBP/Dexter Community.jpgDexter History -- Both the Village and Township of Dexter were named after the Honorable Samuel W. Dexter, who purchased land that originated the village. The area was first settled in 1824 and was known as the "Mill Creek Settlement." The name changed to Dexter in 1830 when the village was platted. The Village of Dexter is said to have been planned so that the sun could shine on both sides of each street all day. Judge Dexter's home, called Gordon Hall, still exists as a museum.
