It is also adjacent to Lake Erie and within 15 miles of dock facilities that accommodate lake shipping. The township contains four unincorporated communities: Stony Point, Woodland Beach and Detroit Beach.

There are campgrounds available and four golf courses. Restaurants are plentiful, from fast food to gourmet dining. All types of retail stores, including specialty and large nationally recognized chains are here. Sterling State Park is on the lake with camping opportunities. There are fishing spots both in and outside of the park, and a boat launch in the park. Frenchtown Charter Township’s eastern boarder is Lake Erie with an abundance of picture perfect housing on the lakefront incase you decide that you want to stay!
