Big Rapids Township Area Information -- Big Rapids Township is located in Mecosta County, which has a population of about 42,300. There are over 100 lakes in the area. Major manufacturers in the area include Haworth, Ice Mountain and Wolverine World Wide. Festivals and arts include the Mecosta County Fair, Airfest, Arts & Crafts Show and Riverdays. Activities include shopping, theatre, concerts, bicycling, tubing, camping, fishing, hunting and cross-country skiing.

Ferris State University -- Ferris State University is located in the center of Big Rapids with a large, state-of-the-art campus. Ferris is a top technical and professional institution, providing education that makes students immediately employable upon graduation. Classes are taught by professional teachers, not graduate assistance to make sure students are learning from the best. There are more than 170 different educational programs with degrees at all levels. There are approximately 220 student organizations on campus, so there is something for everyone, including unique ones such as the Dead Poet's Society, Women's Rugby and the Juggling Club. Retail, restaurants, a hospital and apartments are adjacent to the campus.
